After four successful editions, the PhasAGE consortium is pleased to announce the 5th Training School on “Databases and computational tools in phase separation”.

The event will take place at in Brussels and the lead organizer of the Training School is Prof. Peter Tompa.

Dates: 26-28 February 2024.
Location: VUB Etterbeek Campus, Pleinlaan 2, 1050 Brussels.

VSC is organizing a one-day live-streamed event around the impact of AlphaFold2 and related technologies in Structural Biology.

In the morning, there will be interesting talks by keynote speakers, in the afternoon a World Café workshop with brainstorming will take place.
One of the moderators of the workshop is Tamas Lazar on the topic of "Perceptions of AI in Structurural Biology".

The annual ELIXIR IDP Community Meeting and the 1st ML4NGP Conference will be held in Bratislava on the first week of July (3-4th and 5-7th, respectively).

Looking forward to seeing all of you in Bratislava. We'll be there giving talks (Peter Tompa, Tamas Lazar) and poster presentations (Alvaro Navarro, Heli Garcia Alvarez).

After three successful editions, the PhasAGE consortium is pleased to announce the fourth Training School on “Protein aggregation, intrinsic disorder and phase separation in the era of machine learning”. The event is co-organized by the H2020-funded Twinning project PhasAGE (GA 952334), the H2020-funded MSCA project IDPfun (GA 778247) and the COST Action “Non-globular proteins in the era of machine learning – ML4NGP” (CA21160) and will take place at the PhasAGE coordinating institution, in Porto (Portugal).

The PhasAGE Training School will be organized back-to-back with the first ML4NGP Training School with shared theoretical lectures.

Our lab will host the II. PhasAGE-VIB International Conference: "Biomolecular condensates in biology and disease" in Brussels,
from 11-13 December 2022.

With close to a hundred participants, the meeting will present an excellent opportunity to discuss current trends in this remarkable scientific discipline. World-class plenary and keynote lectures will set the stage for uncompromising scientific quality and excitement. We plan to cover:

• general understanding of the role of LLPS in physiology and pathology
• details of the fundamental process of stress granules formation
• kinetics and modulation of phase separation
• biomolecular condensates in microorganisms
• possible role of LLPS in protein aggregation and its mechanistic role in neuropathies
• targeting “condensatopathies”, as pioneered at emerging LLPS enterprises
• discussing in a “career development session”, career options in life sciences, and distinct paths of bio-business through the lens of experts from big pharma, start-ups and investors.

The PhasAGE-organized "Barcelona Protein Aggregation Training School" will be held on the 12-16 September 2022 in Barcelona, Spain.

The main goal of this training school is to provide expertise on fundamental aspects of protein aggregation. The course will cover the impact of this phenomenon on age-related diseases, how it can be targeted, and its implications for the biotechnological production of proteins. Participants will learn basic and applied protein aggregation concepts and explore experimental methods to study these processes computationally and in vitro. Trainees will work in groups and receive hands-on training in the re-design of protein solubility and the screening of small anti-aggregational molecules of therapeutic interest. The program will integrate practical sessions with talks by leading scientists and industries in the field.

The IDPfun consortium is happy to invite you to its fourth All Hands Meeting “Machine Learning and Protein Structural Disorder”, to be held in Dublin (Ireland) from August 29 to September 2, 2022.

The meeting will bring together the members of the MSCA RISE project IDPfun - Driving the functional Characterization of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, the ELIXIR IDP community, and the participants of CAID 2 (Critical Assessment of protein Intrinsic Disorder).

Join the Virtual Training Bootcamp on "Intriniscally Disordered Proteins in Disease" on 23-26th May 2022, organized by the IDPfun consortium.

The registration is mandatory.

The main goal of this training school is to raise awareness and provide expertise on fundamental aspects of phase separation and the formation of biomolecular condensates. More specifically, it will address the importance of this process to cellular biology and its contribution to the aging process and age-related diseases.

The PhasAGE-funded XVII. Meeting of the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience will be held in Coimbra, from 1 - 3 December, 2021.
The topics will also include neuronal protein aggregation and LLPS, moreover, the biophysical perspective on mechanistic details of neurodegenerative diseases and translational aspects of polyglutamine diseases.

At the IDP conversations series organized by New Equilibrium Biosciences, we welcome everyone to the next talk "Intrinsically Disordered Proteins in Neurodegenerative Diseases: A Computational Biophysicist’s Perspective" by Dr. Orkid Coskuner-Weber from the Turkish-German University on Nov. 3rd, at 5 pm (CET).

The PhasAGE consortium invites you to participate in the I PhasAGE International Conference “Phase Transitions in Aging and Age-related Diseases” that will be held online from 12 to 14  October 2021. 

The conference will bring together members of the PhasAGE consortium and external speakers (e.g. Simon Alberti, Carlos Castaneda, Sheena Radford etc.) showcasing high impact achievements in the field of liquid-liquid phase separation in aging and late-onset diseases.

The scientific program includes a scientific symposium organized by the group of early stage researchers. Young researchers and junior postdocs will have access to a workshop in alternative careers in science.

New Equilibrium presents IDP Conversations, a monthly seminar series focused on intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). Our goal is to foster a multi-perspective discussion on modeling and targeting IDPs. Each seminar, featuring speakers across academia and industry, includes a 40-minute presentation followed by a conversation.
